2 Hours and 24 Minutes

2 Hours and 24 Minutes

  1. Aurora

  2. Crepuscular

symphony orchestra

composed 2020, revised 2026

Composer’s Note

2 Hours and 24 Minutes is inspired by the twilight hours: 1 hour and 12 minutes before sunrise and after sunset, the northern lights, nocturnal animals scurrying in the dark forest, the moon shining in companionship with billions of stars.

“Aurora” starts in F major, ends in E-flat major. “Crepuscular” starts in E-flat, ends in F major. This was a creative choice to signify how these two movements are interconnected.

My first symphony orchestra endeavor, which is why in 2026 I went back to revise it since I really enjoy the tone poem storytelling and the melodies in this piece. I also wrote a nonet version: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, trombone, harp, violin, viola, cello.
