Composer’s Note
《愿》(Yuàn, English: Wish), composed 2026, is my first traditional Chinese ensemble work. My previous compositions were all with Western instruments. 《愿》(Wish) was born during a time when Grace decided that she wanted to pursue music seriously. The atmospheric melodies in this piece carries her wish that everyone's dreams will come true.
Written shortly after I joined the Washington Chinese Traditional Orchestra as a cellist. It was a wonderful experience learning about instruments that I have never written music for before, and collaborating with the amazing artists in the orchestra.
Score video (coming soon) audio is produced with Jade Ethnic Orchestra in Cubase.
